1895 The Youth's Companion Magazine No. 7 Bits of Bird Life

Today's post is more based on illustrations than the actual magazine, but there are several full page pictures also.  I just thought the prints looked really nice and were worth posting.  The copyright is 1895.  The price was 10 cents.  This booklet is portrayed as selections from The Youth's Companion.  More info on The Youth Companion series can be found (HERE).   This is the No. 7 issue of 9 issues listed on the inside cover.  Here are the others: 1-A Book of Stories; 2-Glimpses of Europe; 3-The American Tropics; 4-Sketches of the Orient; 5-Old Ocean; 6-Life in the Sea; 7-Bits of Bird Life; 8-Our Little Neighbors; 9-At Home in the Forest.

So here goes with many pages from the 64 page booklet.

Really great! I've a couple of pieces of paper that I intend to put Ostriches on, so I liked the Ostrich farm image!

Brian, these are incredible illustrations! I love birds but amid all my oohing and ahhing, the squirrel in the nest really grabbed me. I love the details, with the feather woven right into the nest branches. The owl with the glasses is another beauty. Just awesome! You've got a real gem of a book there.

Hey Dave and Trishia! I can email y'all the high rez versions of the ones you like if you want me to. The squirrel and the owl are a couple of my favorites also. The third is the hand with the little hummingbird. This little book has really grown on me after I gave it a good look this afternoon. It might just go on the top shelf!
