1940 "Big Family" Children's Vintage Book

Today's post is a vintage children's book mainly based on religion.  I'm not big on religion, but I do like these vintage books. It's mainly about Christians worldwide coming together and the good deeds done by them in their communities.  There are several black and white illustrations throughout with an equal balance of full color ones.  I chose to show the full color illustration spreads.  The book is almost 9 inches wide so I apologize for the spreads being somewhat small on the post today to show the full spreads.

As you can see, the book was in the library of the Church of the Holy Comforter Church.  On the interior page it states that "This Book Belongs to" Billy Spindler.  Maybe it was donated after private ownership. The library card features two dates.  One from 1966 and the other from 1970.  Judging from the heavy handling this book has endured, I would guess that this is the second library card in this book's life.

I like the way you did this post. I think it's nice to show the whole spread rather than individual pages. It really feels like you have the book in front of you.

I second the motion on the full spread idea. The art in children's books is usually simplistically executed and thus when it works - it works. These illustrations are great.

Ask and ye shall receive! I'll make sure that I always do this in the future. The only reason I hesitate sometimes is because it take two different scans to do it and then I have to seamlessly blend them in Photoshop. But it's worth it. More to come in the future!
